Aurora provides home care from a local Worthing team, with support built around the person, their routines and the life they want to keep living.
Why Aurora exists
A return to care. And to Worthing.
Aurora began with a fairly simple idea: build the kind of local care company we’d genuinely want to deal with ourselves.
Mike had previously run a company providing care at home in Worthing before spending several years away from the sector. Eventually he realised he missed both the work and Worthing itself.
When he returned, the aim wasn’t to build a huge care company. It was to build a good local one: personal, approachable and close enough to the people it supports to know when something needs to change.
That idea still shapes Aurora today. We are based in Worthing, not run from a distant national head office, and the people organising, overseeing and providing care are part of the same local team.

Personal, not corporate
Familiar people. Care shaped around you.
Inviting somebody into your home is a big step. Good home care depends on trust, reassurance and confidence that the person providing support understands how you want to live.
That means getting to know the person behind the care plan: how they like their morning to begin, what they still want to do for themselves, what matters to them and which details make a visit feel comfortable rather than clinical.
We plan for familiar Care Givers wherever possible, keep communication open with clients and families, and adapt agreed support when needs or circumstances change. Care should protect independence, not quietly take it away.

Being local means the people coordinating your care know the communities you live in, and they’re close enough for clients and families to speak to when something changes. Aurora supports people across Worthing and neighbouring West Sussex communities while keeping that local connection.
The Mum Test
We take “good enough for your own mum” rather literally.
Care companies often talk about the Mum Test. Aurora involved Mike’s actual mum.
Ann spent her working life helping people, first as a nurse and later as a Social Worker in West Sussex. Her involvement is a warm reminder of a serious standard: would we be comfortable with this care for somebody we love?
It isn’t a slogan we stick on a wall. It’s a useful question to keep asking when decisions are being made about people’s care.

A local team you can actually get to know.
Aurora isn’t just the people in the office. It’s Jodi, Mike, Paul and Ann, and the Care Givers supporting people in their own homes every day. That includes Rachel, Esther, Hannah and Charlotte, pictured here, alongside colleagues including Roger and Tiani.
Care Givers often work one-to-one, but they aren’t working alone. They are supported by a local team responsible for coordinating care, answering questions, providing training and helping when circumstances change.
For clients and families, that means there are real people behind the care plan and people you can pick up the phone and speak to.

Choosing the right people and preparing them properly.
We look for Care Givers who are reliable, thoughtful, respectful and willing to keep learning. New Care Givers begin with three days of core training, followed by supervised practice, ongoing support and competency assessment as they work towards the Care Certificate standards.
