How do you ensure my Care Giver is suitable to work as a carer?

Our regulator, The Care Quality Commission, holds us to the highest standards when we recruit Care Givers. Everyone who works for us is interviewed twice. We check their right to work in the UK and perform an enhanced DBS check. We request four references which we then verify. If they drive then we ensure they have a valid licence and that their car is legal and correctly insured. Our recruits then undergo a 3 day recruitment assessment program. This covers our values as a business and forms the initial part of the Care Certificate qualification. We cover life support, medication admiration and “Moving and Handling”. Only then do we offer employment. Care Givers will then make supervised visits until they (and we) are confident to visit clients.

How can I be certain my loved one is received care the way they want it?

We use the latest digital care planning tools. They ensure that our Care Givers have access to your care plan and a clear idea of what needs to happen on each visit. The Care Giver will also write notes after each visit and use the tool to check into and out of visits. All of this information is available to family members to view via a family portal.

Care is new to me. What if I decide it’s not for me?

It’s completely normal to feel unsure about care when it’s something new. At Aurora Community Care, we never expect you to make a big commitment straight away. Many people start with just a few visits to see how it feels, and we’ll always adapt the support to suit you.

If something doesn’t feel right, we’ll listen and make changes. And if you decide care isn’t for you, it’s easy to pause or stop without any fuss. Our role is to make life easier, not add extra pressure.

Most of our clients find that once they try it, care becomes a reassuring part of their routine—but the choice is always yours.
